The Cliff House Holiday Park is a woodland park situated on the Suffolk coast close to the seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold. This 30-acre holiday park specializes in static caravans for sale, lodges for sale and self-catering holidays.

Owned and operated by the Beeston Group for more than 20 years, the holiday park has 120 high-quality camping and touring caravan pitches. Between March and October, the park offers seasonal pitches. Winter pitches are also available, but you must contact the holiday park for booking. They also provide long term pitches or even store your caravan over the winter.

Besides caravans, the park has a children’s playground, a family game room with a pool table and TV, and cycle hire. They also have a bar and restaurant where they serve local ales and freshly cooked food. The bar also serves a great selection of local beers, and spirits.

The holiday park is generally surrounded by woodland, heathland and the beach. As such, there is a lot to explore. Other facilities at the holiday park include a:

Heathland Beach Holiday Park has more than 61 pitches where you can pitch your caravan, motorhome or family tent. All pitches have free electrical hook-up fused at 16 AMPs, a TV aerial outlet, and a shared water tap. Only one car is usually allowed on your pitch. If you’ve an extra car, you must park it in the car park. Per night, the holiday park charges £5 a car. You need to obtain a parking permit from the reception before parking.

There is plenty to do at Heathland Beach Holiday Park. The holiday park has three heated swimming pools and a maxi flume. The pools are usually heated to a minimum of 80 degrees F, while the maxi flume provides an exciting entrance to the pool. There is a licensed family bar where you can enjoy a relaxing drink. It also serves meals.

The well-stocked fishing lake is ideal for anglers of all ages. But to fish at the lake, you need an Environment Agency License. To let off steam, head to the all-weather tennis court. The park and facilities are beautifully maintained all year round. High specification holiday homes are available. Tailored to suit your tastes and budget, the new holiday homes feature two bedrooms and one bathroom. Complete with a traditional layout and modern touches, the holiday homes have plenty of lighting and charm. With spacious seating and homely touches, they provide a comfortable place for visitors to rest and enjoy their holiday.

Since Cakes and Ale Holiday Park is an AA rated Five Pennant park, it has washing machines, tumble dryers and an indoor washing-up facility. All pitches are fully serviced with hard standing, 10A electricity supply, free WiFi and grey water connections. They are well equipped and spacious with excellent recreation facilities.

The park’s recreation field has a golf practice range, football goals, playground, Bourke rink and tennis courts. Equipment is available free of charge. To preserve peace at the park, groups or group bookings are not accepted. If you value a bit of quiet, Cakes and Ale Holiday Park has an adult only area.

5. Suffolk Sands Holiday Park

Stay at the Suffolk Sands Holiday Park and enjoy views by the sea. The holiday park is a short drive from Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Friendly and inviting, the Suffolk Sands Holiday Park is a great value caravan holiday with fantastic facilities.

Run Cottage Touring Park is a family-run caravan park. Purchased by Andy and Michele to build a family home in 1998, the whole site was overgrown with trees and brush. The derelict cottages stood on 1 acre of land. The couple began demolishing the old cottages, cleared the land and re-built the cottages.

Located on Suffolk’s beautiful Heritage Coast, the park has 45 spaced pitches located on 5 acres of parkland with views over open farmland. Designed to offer peace and tranquillity, Run Cottage Touring Park is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Open all year, there are 14 hard standing pitches and 6 serviced pitches. The pitches are well equipped with:

  • 10 and 16 A electric hook-ups

  • WiFi
  • Washing up station
  • Clean toilets
  • Laundry facilities
  • Dog exercise field

There is a well-stocked village store 600 yards from the park and a shingle beach 1 1/2 miles away.

Outside the park, there are plenty of attractions. There is the Orford Castle, built by King Henry II in the late 12th Century. The castle’s purpose was to ward off coastal invasions. Another castle you can explore is Framlingham Castle. Built between 1189 and 1200, it has 12 hollow towers connected by a large curtain wall. Visitors can walk along the top.

There is abundant wildlife at Run Cottage Touring Park to see. You can find rabbits, deer, barn owls, sparrows, ducks, egrets, moorhens and even the elusive kingfisher. As of 1st January 2018, the family-run park is now an adult-only site.

7. Carlton Meres Holiday Park

As the ideal place for a family holiday, Carlton Meres Holiday Park has much to offer. Situated in a tranquil location, the holiday park has well-stocked fishing lakes and leisure facilities. Facilities include a fully equipped gym, an outdoor pool, an upgraded adventure playground, and an indoor pool.

It also has a clubhouse with restaurant, gaming and relaxing areas, plus a bar. For lovers of natural beauty, Carlton Meres Holiday Park boasts of a wealth of wildlife. Within easy reach is the picturesque Suffolk Heritage Coastal Region and seaside towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh. Nearby, you’ve Walberswick, famed as the home of the British Open Crabbing Championship.

This location is worth exploring. Anglers can catch a variety of species eager to bite. This includes carp that weigh up to 40 pounds. The gated holiday park caters for couples and families. Group bookings of 6 or more adults are not permitted. Motorcycles and cars are also not allowed in the park. Instead, visitors should park in the designated area.

Under 18s must always be in the company of their legal guardians or parents. While the site is dog friendly, they do not allow crossbreeds as listed in the Dangerous Dogs Acts. Examples include Pit Bull, Japanese Tosa, Fila Brasileiro and others.

8. Beach View Holiday Park

Visit the Beach View Holiday Park for a relaxing stay. Located beside the beach between Thorpeness and Minsmere, it provides pitches for motorhomes. There are 50 touring camping and caravan pitches suitable for campervans, motor homes and touring caravans.

The park has camping pods and a limited number of seasonal pitches for caravans. They sleep 4 people and have a double bed and 2 single beds. Each pod has a mini-fridge, power sockets, internal and outdoor lighting.

Self-catering accommodation is also available for visitors. Available options include apartments and luxury holiday lodges. They are available to rent for weekly or short breaks. The bar and clubhouse open from April until the end of September.

The Clubhouse Café Bar is newly renovated and offers stunning views of the sea outside the sun terrace. They serve fresh ground coffees. Visitors can also try the Italian hot coffee or a selection of herbal and fruit teas including Mint, Green tea, Red Bush and others.
